 It’s straight back into the workshop as in less than 2 weeks is Top Drawer at Olympia. It’s been a while since I’ve done this design-led trade fair so I'm hopeful it’s going to be a good one. The organiser have said that the selection process for the CRAFT section have been tightened up to make it more strict so the majority of exhibitors are true craftsmen and women that are crafting things by hand and uniquely by themselves. So, the CRAFT section is bespoke, handmade, a real craft event. I’ll be on Stand CRF01 and looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones.

She wanted a blend of purples, oranges and golds with different effects for the bangle and ring. The metal's been painted using the same colours on both sides but in different ways so the bangle displays the smoother blended colours and the ring displays the mottled effect. The same, but different. Make sense?! It's always exciting talking through customers ideas, it generates enthusiasm and lots of new ideas and inspirations.

A few weeks ago @atworkgalleries set a recycled parcel challenge where we were sent items destined for landfill and tasked to make a piece of jewellery. There was a fair bit of anticipation and fretting when I opened the parcel to find a pair of flip flops and wobbly plastic moulds... even Sidekick-Sookie-Spaniel was a little biscomdobulated*. But once I started it was a really enjoyable challenge... and there were some challenges! It's certainly opened my eyes to casually throwing things away which could be turned into something creative and hopefully pretty 😉 To me this necklace screams "SUMMER" which I suspect we're all looking forward to as I look out of the window at steady drizzly rain. I’ve got an idea of what I’m going to do but it’s working out how to fix them together which isn’t going to be as easy as I hoped. Jo and Adele from @workgalleries have sent out parcels of items destined for landfill (or juicy rubbish as they put it 😂) with the challenge to make a piece of recycled jewellery.
