The Wonderment Collection
A colourful collaboration with Kathryn Thomas original oil paintings currently exhibiting at
Sculpture by the Lakes in Dorset
These limited edition collections are interpretations of Kathryn’s work and try to capture the blurred lines of the Daylight collection, the other-wordly interstellar nature of the Nightlight collection, and from the colossal burst of colour in the Kaleidoscopic collection to the reflective and thought provoking Contemplation collection. Kathryn’s paintings have a depth and iridescence that is truly remarkable when seen in the “flesh” and these powerful and commanding artworks lend themselves to being transformed into wearable art. The aluminium has a natural luminescence that marries them effortlessly. Our common love of colour, light and our personal history has created a flurry of ideas and conversations, mistakes and successes.
Kathryn’s newest original oil paintings collection ‘Wonderment’ shows significant development in her technique, particularly in her own mark making whilst also borrowing elements from her ‘Kaleidoscopic’ and ‘Contemplation’ painting collections. This new development aligns perfectly with the techniques used in the quest for beautiful wearable art and the collaboration has come together very naturally.
Our history goes back to my late father, Michael Peckitt, when Kathryn first saw his jewellery many years ago and has since acquired quite a collection. It was after he died in 2012 that she approached me with the idea of a collaboration and it is with great pleasure that we now present to you The Wonderment Collection.

Kathryn says:
"I first discovered Michael Peckitt jewellery in a gallery that was exhibiting my paintings, I was drawn to the colour and the light. I began wearing it and enjoying it and it soon became the only jewellery I wore. When I got married in 2009 I gave each bridesmaid a piece - all 14 of them!
In 2012 I learnt that Michael had died from cancer.
I was simply a lover of his work and I was flabbergasted. Not knowing what I could really do I emailed his daughter Miranda to express my condolences and offer any help, in terms of ideas in the continuing of the jewellery range and family business.
I continued to buy and wear Michael/Miranda Peckitt jewellery and it was always commented upon wherever and whenever I wore a piece. Six years later I came across the original email I had sent to Miranda and so I sent it again …and we haven’t stopped talking since!
Our collaboration has been an honour and a joy! Apart from the beauty of the jewellery that Miranda has created I think we have both been surprised at how naturally our ideas have come together and resulted in more than our separate practices. By this I mean more than the combining of our ideas but also the extent to which light plays its part in our worlds and how much we both love the discovery of the power of words - for me in the form of titles and for Miranda in her placing of a few chosen words inside her cuff bangles.
There is so much we could say about our ‘Wonderment Collection" but we’d like to invite you to discover the joy of wearing original art for yourselves. And tell us about it!"
